Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lies In Repose At Supreme Court

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will lie in repose at the Supreme Court for two days allowing the public to pay their respects. The late justice's former law clerks lined the steps of the building as Supreme Court police officers carried Ginsburg's casket into the Great Hall for a private ceremony attended by her family, close friends, and members of the Court. Her casket was placed placed on the Lincoln catafalque, which is on loan from the U.S. Capitol.

After the ceremony, her casket was moved under the portico at the top of the building's front steps. Members of the public will be able to pay their respects between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, and between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET on Thursday.

On Friday, Ginsburg's casket will be moved to the U.S. Capitol, where she will become the first woman to lie in state in the rotunda. She will be buried during a private service at Arlington National Cemetery next week.
