Despite California's rainy conditions in October, that trend didn't last into November. In fact, San Diego International Airport recorded the driest November since 1980, according to the National Weather Service in Rancho Bernardo.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that November will conclude with only a trace of rain during the entire month.

A "trace" of precipitation is defined by forecasters as the "hard-to-measure amount between 0.00 inches and 0.01 inches."

Back in 1980, the airport received no rain throughout November.

ā€œWe have had a lot of high pressure systems that have prevented storms from coming down here,ā€ weather service forecaster Samantha Connolly told the Union-Tribune.

While it's unlikely that San Diego will receive any significant rainfall for at least the next week, she says our chance is not over.

ā€œAll hope is not lost. Itā€™s a long rainy season. We could make up for it.ā€

San Diego averages 1.67 inches of rain in December, according to the Union-Tribune.

Since the last rainy season started on October 1, the airport has recorded 1.01 inches of rain. The average for this time period is usually 1.29 inches.
